If you’ve ever experienced a hemorrhoid then you know how painful and uncomfortable they can be. Luckily, there are ways to prevent hemorrhoids and ways to treat the discomfort and symptoms of hemorrhoids.

What is a hemorrhoid?
A hemorrhoid is a swollen vein located around the anus or in the lower rectum. These swollen veins can be both internal or external, meaning located inside or outside of the body. The most common hemorrhoids are external and unfortunately can cause the most discomfort. A few of the symptoms hemorroids can cause are pain, severe itching, and difficulty sitting down.

What Causes Hemorrhoids?
Hemorrhoids are actually more common than you’d think. In fact, 50% of people have experienced the symptoms of hemorrhoids by the time they reach 50! The causes of hemorrhoids can include straining during a bowel movement, sitting for long periods of time or sometimes heavy lifting – especially from holding your breath while lifting heavy weights or objects.

How To Treat Hemorrhoids
Luckily, hemorrhoids are treatable from home or through your physician. The first step is to manage the pain of a hemorrhoid. Soaking in a warm tub for at least 10 minutes each day can help with the symptoms. However, if pain becomes an issue over-the-counter solutions may help.

We recently featured a patented hemorrhoid relief aid, HemAway, in a monthly Bulu Box. HemAway contains soothing aloe, vitamin E and Lidocaine 5% to relieve the pain, burning, itching and reduce the swelling of hemorrhoids. HemAway is the first prescription-strength 5% Lidocaine to be sold over the counter! HemAway numbs hemorrhoids and helps shrink tissue to better manage the symptoms of hemorrhoids.

It is important to keep good hygiene with a hemorrhoid but DO NOT use soap. Soap can aggravate hemorrhoids and cause your symptoms to be even worse.

How Can You Prevent Hemorrhoids to Begin With?
Regular exercise and a high-fiber diet can help prevent hemorrhoids from ever forming. Always avoid prolonged sitting, especially on hard surfaces. When exercising it’s important to always practice good breathing techniques to avoid excess strain.

You should always talk to your doctor if you’re experiencing any hemorrhoid symptoms. If you have a hemorrhoid it’s important to take care of your pain and swelling. Ibuprofen and other inflammation relievers can help. As we mentioned above, HemAway is also a great and powerful pain relief option you can find on BuluBox.com
