5 Fat Burning Workouts That Aren't Running

What if we told you we knew of a way that you could burn fat while sitting on the couch all curled up with your favorite bowl of snacks, binge-watching Game of Thrones?

Unfortunately, though, we all know that relaxing your way into fitness is the stuff of legend. Watching your favorite show may turn into a marathon, but not the type that’ll get you into shape!

If you’re wanting to burn fat, the bad news is this: you’re going to have to work for it. Fortunately, there is such thing as a way to burn calories quickly. Yes, we’re serious! If you’re looking for some workout ideas, here are five routines that will have you bustin’ some moves and burning fat – in an hour or less.

Zumba
Want to have some fun while you work out? Zumba may be your best bet. Zumba’s been described as a dance-off rather than a workout, but it’s powerful and effective, whatever it is. With Zumba, you’ll be having so much fun that you will forget that you are actually burning anywhere from 500 to 1,000 calories an hour! That’s a lot!

Piloxing
Piloxing? Say what? According to Kristin Floyd Hurtado, operations manager and trainer at the Piloxing Academy in Los Angeles, Piloxing is a “total-body workout," being one that can burn anywhere from 400 to 900 calories per hour. Combining the best of pilates, boxing, and dance, piloxing is a high-energy and highly effective workout routine.

CrossFit Workouts
Love it or hate it, there’s no denying that CrossFit workouts are a great way to get results. A 20-minute routine known as “Cindy” can reportedly burn 261 calories in just twenty minutes. Want to try this routine yourself? Do five pull-ups, 10 pushups and 15 squats. Repeat the session until your 20 minutes are up. Want to increase the intensity? Go faster to do more repetitions!

Insanity Workout
There’s a reason this monster workout has insanity in its moniker; it’s not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. This program is based on “maximum interval training,” which means you train hard for 3 minutes, and then rest for 30 seconds. Proponents of the Insanity workout claim that you can burn 1,000 calories in a workout session.

BodyPump
BodyPump is for anyone looking to get lean, toned, and fit... fast. BodyPump gives you a complete body workout and the ability to burn up to 590 calories per session with coaches who will guide you through the process. You’ll be feeling pumped in no time!

So there you go: five workouts that will help you to rapidly burn fat. If you’re tired of messing around with tedious workouts that aren’t effective for your body, why not swap your routine for one of these extreme workout sessions instead? Although actual results and calories-burned-per-hour will depend upon your weight and your intensity level, fitting in just one hour three times a week should be enough for you to see some dramatic results. You’ll feel better, healthier, and stronger – and less guilty about those weekend “marathons” as well!
